Losing Weight and Stress

For years I ran every morning to manage the stress in my life, but serious injuries to both knees abruptly changed that. My blood pressure went through the roof and I gained 30 pounds in just a few months. Over time, I continued to balloon and went from a comfortable size 6 to a tight size 16. My health deteriorated along with it. Years with numerous physical and martial arts trainers, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and energy healers brought no fundamental change to my core condition.

I knew the changes and healing I was looking for ultimately had to come from within, and my mind started to turn to yoga. Less than a week later I found The Woodlands Body & Brain Center. In light of my previous experiences, I was extremely skeptical that the oh-so-simple poses and exercise movements could be effective. Nobody could have been more surprised than I was to see a huge drop in stress levels after only a few classes. After just a few months of practice I dropped a couple of sizes without really trying. More recently, I discontinued thyroid medication. Then, recently reconnecting with some people who hadn’t seen me in several months, there was a lot of “WHAT are you DOING?”, “You look 10 years younger!”, “Wow! You have so much energy! It’s like you’re in your 20’s or something…”, “It’s like you’re GLOWING. Are you like…DATING somebody?” A couple of people didn’t recognize me at all. And when a younger brother goes out of his way to tell his big sister nice things about how she’s changed, you know SOMETHING is working!
