Kew Gardens Hills offers holistic yoga combining Asian energy principles and meridian exercises for self healing and unifying mind, body and spirit. Our programs are scienticfically designed to work every muscle, tendon, joint, organ and gland while moving fresh oxygenated blood throughout the whole body and brain. The classes are taught in a supportive atmosphere and include individual and group classes for stretching, various forms of meditation, Tai Chi and KiGong. In addition, we offer accupressure/energy healing. Areas of focus include: Stress management, breathing, flexibility and balance, emotional stability, improved concentration and memory, spiritual interests, weight managemment, and guided stretching for women with maternity needs.
INTRODUCTORY CLASS: A typical process inlcudes identifying my visitor's flexibility/stretching skills, breathing skills, stress level, balance and focus. Recommendations are made and a "Beginner's Orientation will follow if membership is established.
REGULAR CLASS contains the hallmark of our practice; 4 Steps to better health. A typical class lasts about 70 minutes and includes Step 1) Warm Up: releasing tension and preparing the body for exercising. Step 2) Deep Stretching: Incease flexibility and strength, improve circulation and alignment. Each and every stretch is used to release blockages and stagnant energy in the avenues of energy. Step 3) Meditation: Increase energy sensitivity and bring calmness over one's thoughts and emotions. Practiotioners experience increased focus and inner freedom. Step 4) Breathing: Deep breathing exercises and postures recharge your body and clear your mind. Experience more vitality and relaxation.
TAI CHI/KI GONG: you will experience dynamic forms of meditation as you move your body to the free flow of vital energy. it will give you a deepsense of peace, joy and fulfillment. All classes are tailored to be therapeutic-like in nature and are designed to provide individualized attention and encouragement.
PRIVATE CLASS: a personalized consultation and training program is designed to address the unique condition of your mind and body that meets your individual needs and personal goals.
TEA TIME: Take time to transition from the peace and serenity of the class to your regular life. Share your experience and ask questions of the instructor while having delicious tea.
Body & Brain Yoga's regular classes are great for all levels and ages! Each class has effective and dynamic components of stretching, breathing, and meditation to destress, strengthen, and relax the mind and body. Core Strengthening class emphasizes our inner abdominal muscles related to supporting the flexibility and strength of our organs, hips, the breathing diaphragm, and back. In this class, we combine Belly Button Healing, Intestinal (Abdominal) Exercises with Meridian Stretches and Core Energy Breathing postures to increase circulation to help strengthen our immune system and improve our gut health. This class includes deep stretching, core breathing, relaxation and meditation for chakra health and balance.
Tai Chi & Ki Gong combine slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and breathing exercises to help your circulation, balance, and alignment while restoring energy. This is a very low-impact exercise with amazing benefits.
