Hong-Ik, or widely benefitting all, is Body & Brain’s founding spirit and has always been the leading principle in the management of our company. Many members, inspired by this spirit and empowered by their own changes, have joined our efforts to help others in need.


According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), more than 37% of adults aged 20 and over in the U.S. are obese and 1 in 9 have diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is noticeably increasing even among people under age 20. Chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and obesity currently affect more than half of the U.S. adult population and account for most of our nation’s health care costs. The important thing about chronic diseases is that most of them are preventable. We can prevent or substantially reduce the risks of chronic diseases by making choices that result in less stress, more exercise, more positive emotions, and a balanced diet.

  • Stress: Stress contributes to more than 80% of chronic diseases. We can manage and reduce stress through breathing and meditation.
  • Exercise: We have evolved in constant movement. Moving your body even for 1 minute per hour makes you fitter and smarter.
  • Emotions: Positive emotions are like powerful vitamins for your mental health. Being positive is contagious, it will benefit you and the people around you.
  • Diet: Every bite makes a difference. Eat real food and not too much. Eat happily and mindfully. Buy local and organic if you can for yourself and the planet.

Positive changes in our personal lives can affect the whole planet. The condition of our planet is not separate from our lifestyle and community culture. By making positive changes in our personal lives, we plant the seeds of much greater changes for our planet. Body & Brain, while helping people develop healthier lifestyles, prioritizes efforts to promote community health in all aspects of its operations and activities. In collaboration with ECO (Earth Citizens Organization, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Body & Brain promotes the #SEEDforHealth campaign to local communities.
For each new member who joins a center, Body & Brain donates $1 to ECO as a way of supporting the mission of creating a global community of Earth Citizens.
