Volunteering with Eden Restoration Project

On December 21st, 2019, Body & Brain Libertyville manager Christina Tu, assistant manager Hilary Reinglass and friends volunteered to support an amazing nonprofit organization, Eden Restoration Project, to help prepare one of their sites for two greenhouses!

At Eden Restoration’s Libertyville site, the plan is to be able to grow food year-round for nearby communities in need.

It was beautiful to see the volunteers, who also practice yoga, tai chi, and meditation at the Body & Brain center in Libertyville, put their whole heart and mind into the tasks needed that day for the project. Together we helped level part of the land with mulch. From about 12pm to 2pm, with shovels, rakes and two wheelbarrows, we were able to level about 600 sq. ft. of the land for a future greenhouse!

One of the lovely volunteers even prepared chicken rice soup for everyone! It was so delicious and you could feel the love she put into making the soup for everyone. By 2pm, we cleaned up all the tools and we utilized some Body & Brain exercises such as stretching, tapping and hand healing to help our bodies recover from the day’s work.

In the near future, Eden Restoration plans to host free classes taught by Body & Brain instructors in the greenhouse during the cold seasons. Body & Brain instructors will continue to work with Eden Restoration to help create a sustainable, environmentally & socially conscious community that will address the well- being of society down to the individual.

Body & Brain’s mission is to empower individuals by helping activate the brain’s natural ability to create health and happiness.

We believe in the significance of self-change and its direct contribution to the health of others. Our mind-body practices and principles reflect our continuous commitment to benefit each individual and all life on Earth.
